Volunteer Requirements & Commitment

Adult Program Requirements (18 Years or Older)
  • Minimum time commitment of 150 hours and at least 6 months
  • Regular weekly four to five-hour shift
  • Must complete health assessment that includes tuberculosis (TB) screening and blood work for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella (MMRV) titers.
  • Must Complete mandatory orientation
    • Some programs require additional trainings
  • Two references (Form)
  • Application & Personal Interview (Form) **Photo ID is required
    • Walk-ins are welcome Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:30am-3:30pm and Saturday & Sunday 10am-3pm to complete application in-person
      OR
    • Print application, complete and bring during above times for a personal interview.

Junior Program Requirements (Ages 14-17)
  • Minimum time commitment of 150 hours and at least six months
  • Regular weekly three to five-hour shift
  • Parent/guardian permission Required
  • Working Papers
  • Must complete health assessment that includes tuberculosis (TB) screening and blood work for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella (MMRV) titers.

Reference Form Requirements

After you've submitted a volunteer application, you will have up to three weeks to submit two reference forms. These forms may be written by either professional or personal contacts (e.g., employer, co-worker, professor, teacher, neighbor, friend, pastor-no family members please). Submit completed reference forms via email (Misty.Teitel@nychhc.org), 718-616-4782 or in person.
