Visiting Rules

Regular visits are important for youth while they are in detention. The Department strongly encourages such contact. Visitors can see residents at the appointed times listed below, based on the first initial of the resident's last name. Visitors should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to visiting to allow for processing by Case Management and Security.

To place the names of family members on the authorized visiting list, call between 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., Monday - Friday and ask for the resident's Case Manager at the facility.

Visitors MUST bring two pieces of identification, preferably photo identification, and be 18 years of age or older. (Social Security cards are not acceptable.) All visitors are searched; electronic devices and photographic equipment are prohibited in the facility. Smoking is not permitted on the premises. Lawyers may meet with their clients everyday between 11:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. To avoid delay and ensure availability of the client, please call and speak to the Case Management Supervisor in advance.

BY CAR

From Manhattan:
Take FDR Drive North to Willis Avenue Bridge exit. Cross bridge, keeping to right, and follow exit ramp to traffic light. Turn right at light onto Bruckner Boulevard. [Follow "from Bruckner Boulevard" below.]


From Queens:
Take Triborough Bridge and follow signs for the Bronx. After toll booths, follow roadway toward Bruckner Expressway. When roadway divides for Bruckner or Major Deegan Expressway, bear right and then exit right immediately, to Bruckner Boulevard. [Follow "from Bruckner Boulevard" below.]

From Bruckner Boulevard:
Follow Bruckner Boulevard north (underneath elevated Bruckner Expressway), stay in outside roadway, through several intersections. Turn right onto Longwood Avenue. Proceed over bridge and continue for three short blocks. Take left turn onto Spofford Avenue. Bridges Juvenile Center is a white building on the left side of the second block.


BY SUBWAY

#6 Lexington Avenue Local train to Longwood Avenue stop. (You can transfer to #6 across platform from #4 or #5 Lexington Avenue Express train at Brooklyn Bridge, Union Square, Grand Central, 59th St., 86th St. or 125th St.). From Longwood Avenue station, walk one block toward elevated highway. Cross Bruckner Boulevard (under elevated highway). Proceed over bridge and then continue for three short blocks. Take left turn onto Spofford Avenue. Bridges Juvenile Center is a white building on the left side of the second block.

BY CAR

From Manhattan:
Take FDR Drive North. Take Willis Avenue Bridge exit. Cross Willis Avenue Bridge to the Bronx and continue on Willis Avenue until you pass 147th Street. After 147th, bear right (the road forks). Stay on the right and get on Bergen Avenue. Drive three blocks on Bergen and make a right on Westchester Ave. Go for one block and make another right to Brook Avenue. The entrance will be on your left.

From the Bronx:
Follow directions above from Willis Avenue.

From Queens:
Take Triborough Bridge and follow signs for the Bronx. After toll booths, bear left and exit at Third Avenue/Willis Avenue. Follow directions above from Willis Avenue.

BY SUBWAY

Take the Bronx bound # 5 or # 2 train to Third Avenue/149th Street stop. As you exit the subway at the corner of Third Avenue and 149th Street, walk east for two blocks on 149th. From 149th, make a left to Brook Avenue. The main entrance to the facility is on your right, in the middle of the block.

BY BUS

Take Bx 15, Bx 21 or Bx 55 to the corner of Third Avenue and 149th Street. Walk east for two blocks on 149th. From 149th, make a left onto Brook Avenue. Main entrance to the facility is on your right, in the middle of the block OR, Take Bx4 to the Corner of Westchester Avenue and Bergen Avenue. Walk one block east on Westchester Avenue. Make a right at Brook Avenue. The entrance will be on your left OR, Take Bx19 that runs on 149th Street to the corner of St. Ann's Street. Walk one block West on 149th. Make a right at Brook Avenue. The entrance will be on your right.

BY CAR

From Manhattan:
Take Manhattan Bridge to Brooklyn. Continue on Flatbush Avenue, all the way to Grand Army Plaza (corner of Prospect Park). Go left around the Plaza onto Eastern Parkway. Continue on Eastern Parkway to Rockaway Avenue and turn right at the light. Continue to Pitkin Avenue and turn right for two blocks. Make a right on Bristol Street. The entrance is on your right (17 Bristol Street).

BY SUBWAY

Take Brooklyn bound A or C train from Manhattan to Rockaway Avenue Stop. Walk south on Rockaway Avenue until you hit East New York Avenue. Make a right on East New York, walk two blocks and make left to Bristol Street. The entrance to the facility is on your left (17 Bristol Street). As you exit the station, you can transfer to Southbound B60 that operates on Rockaway Boulevard. Take B60 bus to the corner of Pitkin Avenue. Make a right on Bristol. The entrance will be on your right, towards the end of the block (17 Bristol Street).

BY BUS

Take B14 that runs on Pitkin Avenue to Bristol Street. From the corner of Pitkin and Bristol, walk half a block North on Bristol. The entrance to the facility is on your right, before you reach East New York Avenue (17 Bristol Street) OR, Take B12 that runs on East New York Avenue, to the corner of Bristol Street. Walk south on Bristol. The entrance to the facility will be on your left (17 Bristol Street).

Visiting Hours at Bridges Juvenile Center

  • Visiting Hours are from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesdays.
  • Visitors can see residents at the appointed times listed below, based upon the first letter of the resident's last name.
  • Please be advised that visitors must register between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. on the day of the visit.
  • Visitors should arrive at least 15 minutes in advance of the visiting schedule to allow for processing by security and Case Management.
