Use DOB NOW

DOB NOW is the Department's self-service online tool that will enable Owners, Design Professionals, Licensees, and Filing Representatives to do all business with the Department online. DOB NOW is part of our Building One City plan to provide better customer service and increased access to information. It allows customers to submit applications, make payments, schedule appointments, check the status of an application or inspection, pull permits, and make renewals. Current Code and rule provisions are applicable in DOB NOW. See the DOB NOW Overview Presentation.

You need an eFiling account to use DOB NOW. If you already have an eFiling account, you can use the email and password to log into DOB NOW. If you need to register for an account, visit the eFiling page for additional information.

After registering for an account in eFiling, you can use DOB NOW to:

  • file jobs and submit fees online
  • view and search information related to your jobs and permits
  • upload documents
  • view objections
  • schedule and review objections with a plan examiner in a virtual meeting
  • receive emails at milestones throughout the application process
  • file post approval amendments (PAA)
  • make corrections
  • pull and print After Hour Variances
  • pull and print work permits
  • receive letters of completion by email.

DOB NOW: Build

DOB NOW: Build is the online platform for Owners, Professional Engineers (P.E.), Registered Architects (R.A.), Licensees, Special Inspectors, Progress Inspectors and Filing Representatives to submit jobs to the Department of Buildings. You need an eFiling account to use DOB NOW: Build. If you already have an eFiling account, you can use the email and password to log into DOB NOW. If you need to register for an account, visit the eFiling page for additional information.

After registering for an account in eFiling, you can use DOB NOW: Build to

  • File jobs and submit fees online
  • View and search information related to your jobs and permits
  • Upload documents

DOB NOW: Inspections

DOB NOW: Inspections provides online scheduling for virtually all inspections, making it easier to schedule inspection appointments, offer more precise inspection scheduling and improve inspection tracking and notifications. Plus, it improves our service by standardizing our Inspectors' electronic checklists – and allowing industry members to certify certain objections electronically, eliminating the cost of re-inspections.

Register for or log into DOB NOW: Inspections. Owners should use the email address that is listed in Section 26 of their PW1 filings to register for DOB NOW: Inspections. Use DOB NOW: Inspections to request development inspections in the following areas:

DOB NOW: Safety is the online platform for Owners, Professional Engineers, Registered Architects, Licensees, and Filing Representatives to submit their compliance filings with the Department.

DOB NOW: Licensing
