“The opioid epidemic is a grave national public health emergency and this President has again stopped short of doing what is truly necessary. Without a declaration of a National State of Emergency, our states and cities will not have the funding and resources to help embattled communities all across our country prevent thousands of deaths from opioid overdoses. It’s on us, as public leaders, to do everything in our power to prevent more deaths and family suffering. No more half measures, Mr. President. It’s time to take real action and invest in saving lives.”
