Statement from Mayor de Blasio on U.S. Supreme Court Upholding Assault Weapons Ban

“Time and time again, we’ve seen assault weapons wreak havoc on our country. We applaud the Supreme Court’s response to misguided attempts to tear down a sensible New York State law that helps prevent gun violence. From Orlando to San Bernardino to Newtown, far too many Americans have seen their families and communities ripped apart by gun violence. Assault weapons and high-capacity magazines have no place on our streets. They are weapons of war that until Congress acts will continue to kill and injure innocent men, women and children.”
