"Today, we remember the six million innocent Jews who were ruthlessly and methodically murdered during the Holocaust - and all those that had to endure the Nazis' brutality. The Holocaust aimed to strip people of their humanity and erode their faith, and truly represents the worst of mankind.
"On this Yom HaShoah, I join people of all faiths in New York City, the State of Israel, and around the world to commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day.
"As we mourn those that have fallen, we also salute those who have survived and found refuge in communities around the world - including in our city. Your stories of resilience are a source of inspiration and hope.
"Today we remember. But to honor the memory of those we have lost, let us also rededicate ourselves to fighting anti-Semitism and injustice of all forms, be it at home or abroad. This Yom HaShoa, let us pledge to never forget. Let us promise: Not now. Not here. Not under our watch.
"Never again."
