“Today, thousands of New Yorkers of Iranian, Afghan, Parsi, Azari and Persian descent will celebrate Nowruz and the start of the New Year. For centuries, our city has been a beacon of hope for people from around the world, and the result is an incredible diversity of cultures, languages and traditions. The holiday of Nowruz – rich in the spirit of hospitality – reminds us this is a season of hopeful new beginnings, and I want to extend my best wishes to all New Yorkers who are celebrating this joyous holiday.
