John Catsimatidis: Now, on the phone with us is – Mayor de Blasio, thank you for calling in.
Mayor Bill de Blasio: Well, you’re welcome, John. I have to say my – my blood is boiling right now. So, I wanted to share my feelings with you about Mr. Cruz.
John Catsimatidis: Tell us about your feelings about Mr. Cruz. I mean, I think all New Yorkers are very, very mad.
Mayor: Well, we should be. I mean, first of all, it’s disgusting for anyone to attack New York City for their own political gain. We’re the biggest city in the country; we’re the greatest city in the country – for him to play to the – you know, his political base and play his political game against the values and interest of eight-and-a-half million Americans is absolutely disgusting. But it’s hypocritical too, John. He is very happy to come here and raise money. So, he’ll take New York money; he’ll take a big loan from Goldman Sachs, and then he turns around and attacks the people of New York. And John, you know, I don’t lightly say I agree with Donald [inaudible], but Donald Trump in this case, I thought he characterized it exactly right. The same city that was withstood the terrorist attacks on 9/11, and rebuilt, and showed such strength, and such grace – we deserve respect from someone who says he wants to be president of all these United States.
John Catsimatidis: Mr. Mayor, I agree with you 100 percent. And all New Yorkers who gave money to Ted Cruz, call him up; tell him you want your money back.
Mayor: Exactly right. There’s no reason any New Yorker should be helping him with money, so he can insult us.
John Catsimatidis: Thank you – Mr. Mayor, thank you for calling in, and have a great Sunday.
Mayor: Thanks very much, John. Be well.
