New Yorkers deserve to live in an affordable city. That's why Mayor Eric Adams is launching a first-of-its-kind citywide initiative to help eligible New Yorkers reduce their monthly student loan payments and identify ways to save on college tuition.

Through a partnership with Summer, our new program provides FREE tools to help New Yorkers keep up to $1 billion in their pockets by connecting them to student loan reduction programs, scholarship and grant opportunities, tuition savings programs, and more. Eligible New Yorkers will be able to:

Save on Student Loans

  • Check eligibility for income-driven repayment plans and loan forgiveness programs with digital enrollment support.
  • Access personalized support to manage student debt and avoid default.
  • End-to-end coverage for over 120 loan assistance and forgiveness programs.
  • Services and assistance for residents in default and/or forbearance.
  • Services and assistance for residents with private student loans. 

Save on College

  • Access personalized tools to help plan and save for college.
  • Identify strategies to cut college costs.
  • Access to Summer's team of trained experts for one-on-one counseling via multiple support channels (including email, in-app messaging, and text), available from 9 AM to 6 PM Monday through Friday (note: responsive via email within 48 hours in off-hours).

Up to $1 Billion Back in the Pockets of New York City Residents

Eligible New Yorkers can bring down their monthly student loan payments by an average of $3,000 per year.* New Yorkers can also learn how to save an average of $10,000 per child through college planning resources.

This program is part of the Adams administration's commitment to making New York City a more affordable city, from wiping out medical debt to launching universal after-school programs and expanding access to early childhood education.
