and Announces Partnerships With Eight Local Banks and Credit
Unions to Offer Them 'No Fee' Accounts
Mayor Bloomberg today welcomed the newly-enrolled families to
Opportunity NYC, the nation's first conditional cash
transfer program and announced a new partnership with eight
financial institutions to offer 'no fee' accounts to every Opportunity
NYC program participant. Opportunity NYC, in which
poor families get financial incentives to act in their and society's
long-term interests, was launched on September 1st.

Public School Surveys
Mayor Bloomberg and Schools Chancellor Klein today announced
the results of the City’s first annual Learning Environment
Survey, which asked City public school parents, teachers, and
6th-12th graders to assess whether their schools were setting
high expectations, communicating well with stakeholders, keeping
students and educators safe, and creating effective environments
for learning.

than any time in the City's history.

Bloomberg Launches "Just Ask the Locals," a Campaign
to Welcome and Thank Visitors from Around the World
Mayor Bloomberg today launched the first phase of "Just
Ask The Locals," the City's first-ever five-borough marketing
and advertising campaign to make visitors feel more welcome,
thank them for visiting, and help them navigate New York City.
The campaign, which starts today, includes outdoor advertising
throughout the five boroughs, insider tips from celebrity residents
available on a tourist hotline, and a new tourism website.

Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Quinn Reach Agreement On
$59 Billion Fiscal Year 2008 City Budget
Mayor Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Quinn today announced
an agreement on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2008 New York City Budget.
The $59 billion budget includes $1.3 billion in property, sales,
and small-business tax cuts, including a property tax rate cut
rate of 7% for the coming year.

Mayor Bloomberg today released his third Campaign Accountability
Report, showing that nearly a year and a half after Election
Day 2005, 96% of the 100 campaign promises the Mayor made during
the 2005 campaign have either been fully implemented or are
currently being implemented.
