UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES & EVENTS
New York Latino Film FestivalSeptember 13-21:
•    The 25th anniversary of the NYLFF will screen 120 films from 15 countries, with an official opening night featuring Mad Bills to Pay, a gritty Bronx tale of young love, hustle, and community directed by Joel Vargas and starring Juan Collado and Destiny Checo.
•     Presented by Amazon MGM Studios, the celebration culminates with a free block party in Washington Heights, featuring a live performance by 2x Latin Grammy nominee J Noa (Nohelys Jiménez), a 19-year-old Dominican rapper, singer, and songwriter from San Cristóbal, Dominican Republic.

Brooklyn Book FestivalSeptember 14-22:
•    The Brooklyn Book Festival celebrates its 20th anniversary this year with events in all five boroughs, including the flagship Children's Day Event, the Literary Marketplace and various author discussions, trivia, performances and more.
•     The Children’s Day event on Saturday, September 20th at its new location in Brooklyn Borough Hall and Plaza, will offer kids and families a full day of readings, workshops, performances, book signings, and art projects with favorite authors and illustrators.

Digital Game SymposiumSeptember 16:
•    The City College of New York will host a half-day symposium celebrating the launch of the Bachelor of Science Degree in Digital Game Development. The symposium will explore how New York City can increase the economic impact of the video game industry on the city’s economy and strengthen its technology ecosystem, foster entrepreneurship, and create new pathways for high-quality employment.
•     MOME’s Alia Jones-Harvey will moderate a panel discussion on reimaging K-12 education for the 21st century, featuring Philip Courtney, CEO, URBAN ARTS, Harold Goldberg, President, Playing With Purpose, New York Videogame Critics Circle, Anthony Casasnovas, Manager, NYCPS Division Of Instruction & Information Technology and Stan Altman, President, Harlem Gallery Of Science opportunities necessary to thrive in today’s digital economy.
•     The event begins at 9am and takes place at Steinman Hall, 140th Street & Convent Avenue.

Game Devs of Color Expo – September 16-19:
•    This 10th anniversary of the Expo is an online conference with live chats, digital booths, networking opportunities, panel discussions, interviews, and the presentation of the “Made in NY” Grant to game developers in need of funding to finish projects.  
•    The purpose of the expo is to encourage and unite game developers from various backgrounds and NYC will host a watch party this year at OS NYC Internet Cafe at 50 Bowery Street, September 19 from 12-10pm, featuring host DaPurpleSharpie.
•    This event serves as the culminating event of the City of NY’s 2nd annual NYC Summer of Games, an initiative meant to shine a spotlight on the local digital gaming community.

Harlem Film FestivalSeptember 17-21:
•    This year marks two decades celebrating cinematic excellence and fearless storytelling at the Harlem International Film Festival in the home of the Harlem Renaissance. Since 2005, the festival has been an independent platform for filmmakers from Harlem to Hong Kong, highlighting voices that challenge convention, celebrate identity, diversity and overcoming adversity, all while pushing the boundaries of independent film to its artistic and social limits.
•    Curation includes powerful documentaries and daring narratives from fresh talent to industry legends, continuing a tradition of uplifting stories from around the block and around the world that reflect the richness of the human experience.

NYC Media Premieres New Season of “92NY on NYC Life” – September 20th:
•    NYC Media, the broadcast network for the City of NY, will premiere Season 16 of “92NY on NYC Life” beginning Saturday, September 20th at 8pm, on NYC Life Channel 25. The season includes 10 episodes of the world-renowned 92NY talk series.
•    The premiere episode of “92NY on NYC Life” will feature Oscar-winning actress  Whoopi Goldberg, with additional episodes to feature Tom Hanks and his daughter author E.A. Hanks, Kelly Bishop and Lauren Graham, Kate McKinnon and Seth Meyers, Josh Brolin, Anne Hathaway and Gabrielle Union, Olympic Gold Medalist Katie Ledecky, Michelle Yeoh and Cast of Star Trek: Section 13 among many others.

NYC Media Premieres New Season of “92NY on NYC Life” – September 20th
Film Green Office Hours Panel @ Climate Film Festival - September 21:
•    The second annual CFF, in partnership with the Guardian US, will take place Friday, September 19 - Monday, September 22 and will feature 50 films and 32 premieres, alongside a full slate of screenings, interactive programs, public conversations and partner activations.
•    This year, CFF will include a special edition of the “Office Hours” signature virtual discussion series, part of the NYC Film Green initiative, covering topics essential to the craft of sustainable production. The free program takes place Saturday, September 20 at 12:30pm at CFF’s Make Change Mezzanine @ Essex Market (88 Essex Street).

New York Film FestivalSeptember 26 - October 13:
•    The 63rd NYFF, presented by Film at Lincoln Center in partnership with Rolex, brings significant films from around the world to New York audiences each fall. Since its inception, NYFF has showcased premieres from master directors and early works from now-celebrated talents like Martin Scorsese, Agnès Varda, Jean-Luc Godard, Pedro Almodóvar, Charles Burnett, Yasujiro Ozu, and many others.
•    For 18 days, Lincoln Center will become a vibrant gathering space for artists and audiences to experience groundbreaking stories, thought-provoking conversations, and unforgettable nights at the movies.

“Made in NY” Talks Series – October Programming:
•    Presented in partnership with the Center for Communication, MOME is proud to present the “Made in NY” Talks series, which brings together industry leaders to share insights, information and news with New Yorkers looking to work in the media and entertainment industries. The talks are in-person, free and open to the public. October events include:
    ○     Execs and the City: Meet the Producers Behind HBO’s And Just Like That - Monday, October 6, 6:30 to 8:00 PM @ SVA Theatre, 333 West 23rd Street 
    ○     Where the Jobs Are: Sports Media - Tuesday, October 21, 6:00 to 7:30 PM @ SVA Theatre, 333 West 23rd Street

A LOOK BACK
Play.NYC 2025:
•   On August 22, MOME officially declared “Play.NYC Day” on behalf of the City of New York, as Associate Commissioner Alia Jones-Harvey presented a proclamation celebrating the 10th anniversary of the event.
•    Over the past decade, Play.NYC’s annual gathering has provided indie developers & small studios including Gumbo NYC an invaluable opportunity to showcase their works, including digital and tabletop games, and has expanded into a 3-day exhibition attracting 100K gamers and enthusiasts at the Javits Center.
•    Congrats to Play.NYC Executive Director Kristi Pryde and her talented team for spearheading this incredible and inclusive event, & helping to define NYC as a major hub for digital game development.

“Made in NY” Films in Production:
•    MOME was on the set for the final filming days of the “Made in NY” romantic drama, Happy Hours, an epic reunion for the ages which brought writer, director, and actor Katie Holmes together with Joshua Jackson, the first of a feature film trilogy.

“Made in NY” Films in Production:
•    MOME was at the premiere of the “Made in NY” film, Caught Stealing, from director and “Made in NY” award recipient Darren Aronofsky. The film is a love letter to the City of New York, with many action-packed scenes shot on location in the streets of NYC.
•    Also in theatres currently playing is Spike Lee's latest, Highest 2 Lowest, the thriller Relay, and the drama, Love, Brooklyn. There's a little something for everyone so get out to your local theatre and support NYC’s film industry!

Teatro SEA Arte Pa’ Mi Gente Festival:
•    MOME’s Carla Hoke-Miller and Congressman Dan Golden was on hand as Teatro SEA hosted the 2nd Annual Latine Children’s Music Day as part of the free Arts Pa’ Mi Gente Festival at Suffolk Street, celebrating Latin American culture and identity with music, dance, culture and community.

Traces Community Performance at The Bushwish Starr:
•    As part of the CUNY Grad Center’s Down to Earth Festival, MOME was on hand and helped to support a performance of Traces, a participatory workshopped project by Elise Vigneron and team from THÉÂTRE DE L'ENTROUVERT in partnership with The Bushwick Star Artistic Director Noel Allain and team.
