UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES & EVENTS
“Made in NY” Productions – November:
•   MOME is proud to support “Made in NY” productions, where 75% of the filming takes place in NYC, employing hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers and utilizing small businesses. The “Made in NY” premieres in November include:
    ○      Monday, Nov. 3 - Crutch (Paramount+)
    ○      Friday, Nov. 7 - Stumble (NBC) and Power Book IV (Starz)  
    ○      Monday, Nov. 10 - Sesame Street (Netflix)

“Made in NY” Talks Series – November Programming:
•    Presented in partnership with the Center for Communication, MOME is proud to present the “Made in NY” Talks series, which brings together industry leaders to share insights, information and news with New Yorkers looking to work in the media and entertainment industries. The talks are in-person, free and open to the public. November events include:
    ○     Life Stories: The Art of Unscripted Programming - Monday, November 3, 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Fordham University, McNally Amphitheater, 140 W 62nd Street
   ○     How to Succeed Solo: Freelance Media Careers - Thursday, November 13, 6:30 to 8:00 PM, BRIC Arts Media, 647 Fulton Street, Brooklyn

Soho Rep Presents Songs of the Living – Now through November 16:
•    Soho Rep will present Toshi Reagon and friends as they perform songs of resistance and resilience during Songs of the Living across all five boroughs during eleven evenings of music and fellowship.
•     Each evening will be dedicated to its own themes, from Sacred songs, to Hip Hop, Disco, and songs for young people and feature evenings inclusive of Spanish, Arabic, and American Sign Language, all culminating in a final show that will gather all of the threads from the previous evenings into a single powerful congregation around these Songs of the Living.

Queens World Film Festival – November 5-16:
•    The Queens World Film Festival #15 returns to the Museum of the Moving Image and Kaufman Astoria Studios with 124 films from 19 nations, including 22 from Queens, 20 from Brooklyn, 14 from Manhattan, 3 from the Bronx and 1 from Staten Island.
•    This year’s program features narratives, documentaries, experimental, animation, dance and films that defy all genres, all organized into themed blocks such as Unique Visions, Familial Trauma, Out and About, Queer Pioneers, Environmentally Speaking, and Hot Mess, with filmmaker Q&As accompanying each screening, Opening and Closing Night celebrations, and The Listening Tour, a signature initiative fostering dialogue and connection through film.
•    MOME’s Thavary Krouch will serve as one of the Table Catalysts for the Filmmaker’s Breakfast on November 8, which will bring creatives and industry representatives together to dig into the friction creatives encounter between making the art and paying for the art making.

Project Feel – November 6:
•    Project Feel, an NYC-based multimedia production company, presents The Other Lens, a short films program that focuses on highlighting stories often left on the margins.
•    With deep roots in independent film, Project Feel curated The Other Lens with a mission of building a vibrant, inclusive creative community and inspiring the next generation of visionary storytellers.

The New York Comedy Festival – November 7-16:
•    The New York Comedy Festival (NYCF) is back with 200+ acts, including The Basement Yard, Hannah Berner, Michael Blackson, Louis C.K., Margaret Cho, Alex Edelman, Chris Fleming, Patti Harrison, Pete Holmes, How Did This Get Made?, Morgan Jay, ISMO, Ryan Long, Nurse John, Yohay Sponder, Strangers with Candy with Stephen Colbert, Paul Dinello and Amy Sedaris, Trevor Wallace and many more, plus, a screening and panel with the cast and creators of NBC’s St. Denis Medical.
•    The festival will feature 100+ shows across all five boroughs at iconic NYC venues, including the Beacon Theatre, Kings Theatre, Madison Square Garden, Town Hall and The Venue at Hard Rock Hotel New York.

DOC NYC – November 12-30:
•    DOC NYC, the festival for documentaries, returns for its 16th annual edition at IFC Center, SVA Theatre and Village East by Angelika, featuring over 200 films, 30 World Premieres and special guests including Oscar Isaac, Amy Goodman, Alan Berliner, and many more.

NYC Media Premiere – November 21:
•   NYC Life Channel 25, the lifestyle channel of the NYC Media network, will premiere season 4 of Inside Power Station @BerkleeNYC, Friday, November 21 at 9pm, where renowned musicians, performers and producers will discuss the legendary NYC recording studio and the iconic albums that were recorded there.
•   The premiere guest is NYC Broadway and film actress Daphne Rubin-Vega and the series host is Arun Pandian.

2026 Minecraft Education Battle of the Boroughs Esports Competition Launch at City Hall:
•   MOME Commissioner Kaufman, Deputy Mayor Carrion and NYC Schools Chancellor Aviles-Ramos gathered at City Hall to kick off the 2026 competition, and announce new funding for the program.
•   They were joined by 15 students from Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn who won last year’s competition to speak about their experience competing to build a more inclusive, sustainable, future-ready NYC in Minecraft while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Excellence in Customer Service Awards:
•    MOME's film permitting team received recognition at the annual Excellence in Customer Service Awards for their responsiveness, deep knowledge of NYC's logistics, and solution-oriented approach that exemplify outstanding public service.
•    Additionally, MOME's Lloyd Blasen was honored with the individual Excellence in Customer Service Award for his unwavering support for the entire agency.

Vivian Beaumont Theater Anniversary:
•    MOME Commissioner Kaufman attended the 60th anniversary celebration of the iconic Vivian Beaumont Theater and presented a proclamation to honor the moment.
•    Alongside Lincoln Center Theater's new artistic director Lear deBessonet, the moment also served to kick off the run of the new musical revival of “Ragtime.”

NYC’s Expanding Studio Infrastructure:
•    In October, two new film and TV production studios announced updates; East End Studios in Sunnyside, Queens is now open for business and Echelon Studios in Brooklyn has moved forward towards the start of construction, both promising to provide jobs to NYC based crew members and support small businesses.
•    Combined with recent extensions to the state film tax credit, increases to our local crew base through 'Made in NY' training programs, and a 'City of Yes' attitude in terms of filming, these new studios indicate that the future is bright for our film and TV production industry.

Game-A-Palooza:
•    MOME was proud to help support the one-day festival, Game-A-Palooza, the City's biggest indie game showcase, where participants had the chance to play 50+ new games before anyone else in the world, including anticipated titles like "Skate Story," "Future Vibe Check", and "High on Life 2", and organizers from IGDA were able to celebrate and spotlight local game developers.

NYC Media NY Emmy Wins:
•    NYC Media, the official broadcast network and production group for the City of NY, took home multiple awards for programming, including five for The NYC Field Guide: How to Thrive in the Five, produced in collaboration with Next Millennium Productions (NMP), with NYC Media General Manager Karen Johnson serving as Executive Producer and Micaela Birmingham as series host.

Art House NY Launch:
•    MOME’s Deputy Film Commissioner Kwame Amoaku attended the launch of Art House NY, a new alliance forged to strengthen independent film exhibition, alongside AHNY founder Lesli Klainberg, and AHNY director Allason Leitz.

“Made in NY” Training Programs:
•    On October 10, 18 New Yorkers became the newest graduates of the “Made in NY” Production Assistant Training Program, the 81st cohort since its launch in 2006, which has helped to train over 1200 New Yorkers for careers in the Film & TV production industry.
•    On October 29, recent graduates from the “Made in NY” Post-Production training program gathered to hear a panel discussion featuring Carol Mintz from Warner Brothers, Julia Pilzer from Motion Picture Enterprises and Shirley Williams from Willie B Studios.
