NYC Film Green Initiative Virtual Discussion Series – July 8: |
• MOME is proud to present the NYC Film Green Initiative virtual discussion series, covering topics essential to the craft of sustainable production.
• The next episode on July 8, which is free and open to the public, will look at how sustainable production is taking shape around the world. From carbon tracking tools to on-set practices and training programs, countries are adopting a range of strategies to reduce the environmental impact of film and television production. This panel will spotlight the leading efforts, innovations, and challenges being addressed across different regions, offering a global perspective on what sustainable production looks like today and where it’s heading.

NYC Summer of Games – Now-September: |
• The 2nd annual NYC Summer of Games, an initiative meant to shine a spotlight on NYC’s digital gaming community activations, is going on now, featuring marquee events, expos, tournaments, exhibits, workshops, and programs across the five boroughs this summer.
• Upcoming JULY events include:
○ Urban Arts Game Academy Free College-Preparatory Game Design Program open to rising 10th, 11th and 12th graders: July 7 - August 18, 39 W. 19th Street, 5th Floor, NYC
○ PaleyGX Minecraft Free Coding Workshop: July 11 - August 13

Asian American International Film Festival - July 31-August 10: |
• The 48th Asian American International Film Festival will take place both in New York City and virtually, and will feature a captivating array of films that delve into themes of love, relationships, grief, and complex emotions.
• In addition to a stellar lineup of films, the festival will feature exclusive panels, receptions, and VIP events, providing unique opportunities to connect with industry professionals and fellow film enthusiasts.

‘Made in NY’ Awards Ceremony: |
• On June 16, Mayor Adams and MOME Commissioner Kaufman hosted the return of the “Made in NY” Awards Ceremony for the first time in 10 years, to celebrate NYC’s film & television industry at Gracie Mansion.
• With hundreds of industry participants in attendance, a performance by Lamont Walker II from Hell's Kitchen and music spun by DJ Ralph McDaniels, the creative mind behind Video Music Box, honors were given to:
○ Actress, comedian, producer, and writer Michelle Buteau
○ Emmy-nominated actor and comedian Tracy Morgan
○ President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Thomas J. O’Donnell
○ With recognition of 2025 “Made in NY” awards previously given to Emmy Awards-winning producer Celia Costas and Academy Awards-nominated filmmaker Darren Aronofsky. |

• That’s a wrap on NY Music Month, the city’s official music festival which for 8 consecutive years has celebrated New York’s vibrant music industry with a month of 50+ free events for artists, industry professionals, and fans, including:
• This year also marked the debut of a new brand identity, including an updated logo, fresh creative direction, and a fully redesigned website by delasign. These changes reflect the festival’s growth and its continued commitment to supporting the city’s dynamic music community. |
Black to Broadway Juneteenth Celebration: |
• MOME was proud to support The Broadway League’s Black to Broadway Juneteenth Celebration in Times Square on June 19. The free outdoor concert included the presentation of the Legacy Award to Tony Award®-winning actor/activist, educator, and philanthropist André De Shields, who was recognized for his trailblazing career that has spanned over five decades.
• Additionally, the concert featured performers from 15 shows, including: & Juliet; Boop! The Musical; Buena Vista Social Club; Chicago; Gypsy; Harry Potter and the Cursed Child; Hell’s Kitchen; The Lion King; MJ; Moulin Rouge! The Musical; Pirates! The Penzance Musical; Ragtime; Real Women Have Curves; Six: The Musical; Wicked; and the return of the kids of Young Gifted and Broadway. |

Future Now Media & Entertainment Conference: |
• MOME's Deputy Film Commissioner Kwame Amoaku kicked off this year's Future Now Media & Entertainment Conference with opening remarks on his experience as a creator filming in NYC.
• The event created multiple opportunities where hundreds of college and graduate students could get insight about broadcast, cable, and digital media businesses, the latest trends and emerging technologies, and advice for how to break into these industries and begin careers in the sectors.

• MOME was on hand to celebrate historic NYC at the season 3 premiere of the HBO series, The Gilded Age, which took place during the Tribeca Film Festival.
• Commissioner Kaufman met with many of the show’s creative and on-screen talent including show-runner Julian Fellowes and cast member Morgan Spector. |

“Made in NY” Workforce Training Program Graduations: |
• MOME is proud to support multiple workforce training programs across the City of NY to prepare underemployed New Yorkers for jobs in our media and entertainment industries. June graduations included:
○ MiNY Production Assistant 80th Cohort

○ MiNY Animation 1st Four Cohorts of revamped program |
