JanArtsNYC – HAPPENING NOW: |
• JanArtsNYC, the annual collection of world-class public performances and innovative industry gatherings is happening now, featuring 12 partners who will premiere new works in theatre, dance, opera, music and performance, including the Under the Radar festival, January 7-25.

2026 Minecraft Education Battle of the Boroughs Esports Competition – SUBMISSION PERIOD ENDS JANUARY 16: |
• The sixth annual competition, open to any NYC Public School students in grades K-12, will continue with in-person qualifying rounds in each borough, and the Mayor’s Cup Final in May.
• The final will take place during the Second Annual NYC Video Game Festival, where winners will be declared for elementary, middle, and high school teams.

NYC Public School Film Festival – SUBMISSION PERIOD ENDS FEBRUARY 6: |
• The submission period for the eighth annual Public School Film Festival, presented by MOME and NYC Public Schools is open until February 6, 2026. The Public School Film Festival is available to all middle and high school students and designed to celebrate the diversity of student voices.

The NY Game Awards – January 17-18: |
• The New York Game Awards, produced by the nonprofit New York Videogame Critics Circle, will celebrate 15 years of honoring outstanding achievement in video games this year.
• The NYVGCC promotes education within the worlds of video game writing and journalism in the New York City area.

“Made in NY” Productions - 2026 AWARD SEASON: |
• A “Made in NY” production is identified when 75% of the filming takes place in NYC, which in turn helps to employ hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers and utilize small businesses. MOME is proud to celebrate those productions who have received wins during this awards show season, including:
○ Marty Supreme - Critic’s Choice Award for Best Actor
○ SNL 50 - Critic’s Choice Award for Best Comedy Special
○ Last Week Tonight with John Oliver - Critic’s Choice Award for Best Variety Series |
Proclamation Presentation to John Catsimatidis: |
• On the eve of his acting debut in the critically-acclaimed “Made in NY” movie Marty Supreme, and on behalf of the City of New York, MOME Commissioner Pat Swinney Kaufman joined John & Governor Kathy Hochul to proclaim December 23, 2025 as “John Catsimatidis Day.”
• Lifelong New Yorker John Catsimatidis’ rise to success from supermarket employee to CEO of Red Apple Group and owner of WABC Radio 77 is the quintessential New York City story. |

Launch of “Made in NY” Game, Skate Story: |
• MOME’s Associate Commissioner Alia Jones-Harvey was on hand to celebrate NYC’s own Sam Eng, a locally based digital game designer as he released his new game, Skate Story, alongside production company Devolver Digital.
• Skate Story's creator exemplifies the type of gaming developer that MOME and City of New York are excited to support in our efforts to strengthen and grow NYC's indie game community, and make it accessible to all New Yorkers. |
