UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES & EVENTS |
JanArtsNYC – January 2026: |
• JanArtsNYC kicks off on January 3 with the opening night of the Out-FRONT Festival, and continues throughout the month with live performances and industry events, leveraging both local and global audiences from around the world, who are drawn to NYC every year to experience, learn about, and present live performance during January.
• For 13 years, JanArtsNYC has helped position January as “Performing Arts Month” in NYC, where the world’s best come annually to premiere the newest works in theatre, dance, opera music and performance.

2026 Minecraft Battle of the Boroughs Submission Period – NOW through January 16: |
• The submission period for the 2026 Minecraft Education Battle of the Boroughs ESports competition is open now through January 16 and available to any NYC Public School students in grades K-12.
• The sixth annual competition includes in-person qualifying rounds in each borough, and the Mayor’s Cup Final in May. The final will take place during the Second Annual NYC Video Game Festival, where winners will be declared for elementary, middle, and high school teams.

Women + Media Summit – December 4: |
• The 9th Annual Women + Media Career Summit, presented by Center for Communication and sponsored by MOME, is designed to help students and recent graduates break into the business and be successful in their early careers through keynotes, panels, and skill workshops.

The NY Game Awards – January 17-18: |
• The New York Game Awards, an annual awards show produced by the nonprofit New York Videogame Critics Circle to recognize outstanding achievement in video games, will celebrate 15 years this January.
• The NYVGCC promotes education within the worlds of video game writing and journalism in the New York City area.

ONE SHOT with Ed Sheeran on Netflix - Streaming Now: |
• In Ed Sheeran’s new musical special, ONE SHOT with Ed Sheeran: A Music Experience, the global superstar and multi-Grammy Award winner walks through NYC, playing some of his greatest hits in a single, uninterrupted take.
• A love letter to NYC, the film cast numerous New Yorkers who witnessed, appeared as extras and worked the shoot, and required the partnership of five NYC agencies working together to film across multiple NYC iconic locations.
• MOME’s Deputy Film Commissioner Kwame Amoaku participated in a behind-the-scenes story, which you can read on the Netflix Tudum website here. |
“Made in NY” Productions – December: |
• MOME is proud to support “Made in NY” productions, where 75% of the filming takes place in NYC, employing hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers and utilizing small businesses. The “Made in NY” movie premieres in December include:
○ Friday, December 5 - Merrily We Roll Along, Rosemead & The New Yorker at 100
○ Friday, December 19 - Is This Thing On?
○ Thursday, December 25 - Marty Supreme |
• As part of the DOC NYC series of programming, MOME was proud to host NYC Public School students from Brooklyn Tech, Bronx High School for the Visual Arts and Brooklyn Environmental Exploration Middle School for a screening and panel discussion for Street Smart: Lessons from a TV Icon. The film stars Sesame Street alum Sonia Manzano, a Bronx native and industry trailblazer who played Maria for decades on the iconic “Made in NY” production. |

Urbanworld Film Festival: |
• As part of the Urbanworld Film Festival programming, MOME’s Deputy Film Commissioner Kwame Amoaku attended a screening event for SHORTS: The Mix #3 Showcase, featuring "Smoking Gun!" from filmmaker Sanicole Young. |

Hang Time at The Flea Theatre: |
• To support our mission of shining a light on local theatre talent, MOME proudly partnered with the Flea Theatre to provide free attendance to a performance of the Off-Broadway production of Hang Time with writer/director Zora Howard and a post-show discussion at the Victoria Theater at the Apollo Theater. |
