NYC’s Department of Youth and Community Development’s youth workforce development programs have developed a Work-Based Learning planning and assessment tool for use in Career Pathway Work Experiences, Internships and other appropriate Work-Based Learning.
Data Sheet
The who, what, where and when of the experience. Includes youth/young adult information, employer or organization sponsor information, experience description and details, program information, Intern & Earn Program staff contact information, and other details. Data Sheet is complete once the experience has been defined and an employer or organization/youth and young adult match made.
Academic Enrichment and Career Development Learning Outcomes
A set of key learning outcomes centered on academics, career development and personal growth. Developed with the youth and program staff and shared with the worksite supervisor. Assessed by the coordinator/case manager with the student. (See the information sheet following the assessment for sample learning outcomes and instructions.)
Assessment of the Work-Readiness Professional Skills
An assessment of the work-readiness and job-specific skills demonstrated through the experience. Assessed by the worksite supervisor at the midpoint and at completion of the experience.
