NYC311 Adds Intake Channel and Borough-Block-Lot Attributes to Open Data
NEW YORK—NYC311, New York City’s primary source of government information and non-emergency services, has added two new attributes to its service request dataset located at NYC Open Data. The inclusion of the “Intake Channel” attribute, when available, will indicate on which channel a service request was filed by a customer; the call center, online or the mobile app. In addition, Borough-Block-Lot (BBL) was added, providing parcel numbers identifying the location of buildings or properties.
“These additions are entirely user-driver, Public users of our dataset, who have either built applications that use the data, or just have an avid interest, requested these elements. Hopefully this new information will allow deeper and better use of our data, which we all learn from” said NYC311 Director of Strategy and Development Chenda Fruchter of the dataset enhancement.
The 311service request dataset is available from 2010 to present, is updated daily, and contains over 9 million rows of data.
NYC311 aims to provide the public with quick, easy access to all New York City government services and information. New Yorkers can connect with 311 online, by text, phone, or social media. NYC311 works continuously to make government services more accessible to non-English speakers, with 180 languages available in the call center and more than 50 languages available online.
