Capital Funding

The Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA), through its Capital Projects Unit, supports design and construction, renovation, restoration, or building infrastructure projects as well as major equipment purchases at the 34 City-owned cultural institutions and approximately 200 other cultural facilities throughout the five boroughs.

The goals of the capital program are to assist the nonprofit cultural community in providing increased public service, providing greater access to people with disabilities, enhancing exhibition or performance space, the construction and/or restoration of buildings, and increasing the protection of botanical, zoological, and fine art collections.

For more information about DCLA's Capital Projects, please visit the NYC Capital Projects Dashboard.

Upcoming Dates

Fiscal Year 2025 Cultural Capital Funding Request Seminars

The Capital Projects Unit will host two seminars for organizations eligible to apply for cultural capital funding. Eligible organizations will be invited to register for one of the seminars. Please review the capital funding eligibility guidelines outlined on the Capital Funding Process webpage.

Since a baseline Cultural Development Fund (CDF) recommendation is an essential requirement, if you have not received a baseline CDF recommendation within one of the last three fiscal years (City FY 2022, 2023, or 2024) or have never applied to the CDF, please visit the Grants for Organizations webpage to learn more about applying to the CDF. If you do not know if your organization has received a baseline CDF recommendation within one of the last three fiscal years, please contact your program officer in the Program Services Unit.
