| As a Prelude to the 18th Annual Urbanworld Film Festival, Neil Drumming, Marvin Scott and Leslie Fields-Cruz Will Discuss Resources and Lessons Learned in NYC Production in “Making It in NYC: Tips on Indie Film Production”
Presented by the Mayor’s Office of Media & Entertainment, Urbanworld Film Festival, African-American Film Festival Releasing Movement (AFFRM) and Hunter College (CUNY) September 3, 2014 - As a part of “Made in NY” Talks, a free series of conversations focused on jobs in the local entertainment industry, the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media & Entertainment in partnership with Urbanworld Film Festival and African-American Film Festival Releasing Movement (AFFRM) will present “Making It in NYC: Tips on Indie Film Production” on Wednesday, September 10 at 7pm at the Ida K. Lang Recital Hall at Hunter College. The talk, which is free and open to the public, will bring multicultural directors, producers and industry professionals together to discuss the process, possibilities and opportunities of independent film production in New York City. Neil Drumming, director and writer of BIG WORDS; Leslie Fields-Cruz, interim executive director of Black Public Media; and filmmaker Marvin Scott will share their ideas on the topic, which will be moderated by marketing and creative executive Dolly Turner. A Q&A will follow. The event is open to anyone interested in learning more about opportunities in the entertainment industry. About African American Film Festival Releasing Movement (AFFRM) Established in 2011, the African American Film Festival Releasing Movement (AFFRM) is a film distribution collaborative founded by award winning filmmaker, Ava DuVernay.
