Taylor & Taylor Associates and the Fireman's Fund Insurance Company partnered to award a $17,528 grant to enhance training to Ladder 3 and the FDNY High School for Fire & Life Safety on May 10.
"This will help firefighters fight fires better and safer than ever before," Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano said during the ceremony at Ladder 3.
Ladder 3 used their grant to purchase a forcible entry simulator, which provides firefighters the opportunity to train on entry through all types of locked doors. Additional funds were used for a technology training package for the firehouse, as well as power tools, flashlights and rescue simulation training equipment.

Individuals from Taylor & Taylor, Fireman's Fund and the Association of Independent Commercial Producers, who all helped secure the grant, stand with Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano and watch members of Ladder 3 demonstrate how they use their new forcible entry simulator.
The FDNY High School, which is now in its seventh year, used grant funds to purchase EMT training packages for students in the Youth Certification Program. Items include stethoscopes, blood pressure testing equipment and additional medical supplies.
"There are only good things coming from this," said Scott Taylor, President of Taylor & Taylor.
Since December 2006, Fireman's Fund has awarded the FDNY over half a million dollars. This is the fifth grant by Taylor & Taylor, bringing their total donations to the Department to over $150,000.
