41 Fire Officers Promoted

Hundreds of firefighters, family and friends filled the Fire Academy’s Field House on Apr. 4, to cheer for 41 fire officers as they received their promotion.

“We have a group of new leaders before us, who demonstrate service and dedication,” Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano said. “Every one of you will make the FDNY better.”

During the ceremony, 10 members were promoted to the rank of battalion chief, 15 to captain, 15 to lieutenant, and one to marine engineer.

Combined, the promoted members represent more than 630 years of experience with the Department.

“There are a lot of role models in this room,” Chief of Department Edward Kilduff said. “The experience level in this group is high, and I know you’ll each make a big difference in the Department.”
