Firefighters Named New York Daily News Heroes of the Month

(L to R) Chief of Department Edward Kilduff, Firefighter Joseph Dunn, Firefighter Kevin Hogan and Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano.
The New York Daily News welcomed Firefighters Kevin Hogan and Joseph Dunn from Ladder 114 on May 11, to recognize them as Heroes of the Month for saving the lives of eleven people - including a pregnant woman - on March 13.
"The work these two firefighters did was really, really great," said Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano. "Any one of our firefighters could have done it, but they did it."
The firefighters donated the cash from the award to the burn unit where victims of the fire were taken.
"You could call this a miracle, but that downplays the incredible heroism of these men," said Kevin Convey, Editor-in-Chief of the Daily News. "They are an example of what makes this city so great."
After receiving cheers from the dozens of firefighters who attended the ceremony to honor their comrades, Firefighter Hogan remained humble, adding: "We were just at the right place at the right time, anyone else in my position would have done the same thing."
