CIDI provides data support for Ban the Box, which is part of the Young Men’s Initiative (YMI) justice portfolio.  In August 2011, Executive Order 151, the Consideration of Criminal Convictions in Hiring, codified New York City’s new hiring policy. CIDI, with support from the Department of Citywide Administrative Services, analyzed the hiring trends of individuals with prior convictions in municipal jobs in 2010 and 2011.  The analysis considered the type of municipal job (competitive vs. noncompetitive), the City agency, the job title, the qualifications of the candidates, and demographics.
