Newly signed Executive Order 19 calls for 4,000 municipal trucks to install audible pedestrian alerts by June 2029. In addition, all new non-emergency municipal vehicles will feature pedestrian alerts and speed-limiting technology which is shown to reduce dangerous speeding by 64%.

Meet Dalia Mendoza, a senior capital budget analyst in DCAS' Fiscal and Business Management line of service. Dalia coordinates with teams across DCAS to help plan, coordinate, and support important projects that improve services throughout the city.

Civil service exams are now free for New York City high school students and first-time test takers, expanding access to hundreds of careers in city government. DCAS also released the FY27 civil service exam schedule and made exam information available in more than 190 languages.

At the Mayor’s direction, DOC permanently closed the North Infirmary Command, a vacant jail that first opened in 1932, and transferred the facility to DCAS. The DOC also transferred jurisdiction over large portions of the George Motchan Detention Center and Anna M. Kross Center to DCAS. These are the first property transfers from DOC to DCAS since 2021.
