Report Lost Property

Leave an item in a TLC-licensed vehicle? The City is here to help.

Often the easiest and quickest way to find your lost item is by contacting the vehicle owner or company directly. If you were riding in a taxi and know the vehicle’s license number, you can contact the vehicle owner directly by using the Taxi Lookup tool. If you booked your ride through a smartphone app or base, you can contact the company that provided you the service.

Tips to Help You Find Your Lost Property:

  • If you left your cell phone inside a vehicle, try calling your cell phone as soon as you discover it is missing.
  • Drivers frequently attempt to return property directly to its owner. If you were picked-up or dropped-off at a major transportation hub, including airports and rail stations, try calling the lost and found department at that location.
  • If you were picked-up or dropped-off at a hotel, contact the concierge or security office.
  • Keep in mind that another passenger may find your property and contact you directly.
  • The TLC will NOT request your complete credit card number when attempting to locate lost property. TLC staff may ask for the last 4 digits of your credit card to assist in our investigation. Do NOT give your complete credit card number to anyone.
