About TLC Food Delivery

When COVID-19 arrived in New York City in early 2020, the TLC, City agency partners, and the National Guard set up the emergency GetFoodNYC program, which included food delivery services that ran from March to October 2020.

The food delivery program was successful because of TLC-Licensed Drivers, who pivoted as essential workers.

TLC-Licensed Drivers delivered over 65 million meals citywide, and earned $40 million in wages for their participation and hard work.

GetFoodNYC was an all-hands program. Every unit and hundreds of TLC employees worked alongside Licensees and other civil servants. They helped to staff food sites, direct traffic, organize driver pay, load boxes into vehicles, support technology development, and provide support to Drivers with questions about program operations.

It was also a tremendous team. TLC worked closely with NYC Emergency Management, the Department of Sanitation, the Department of Parks and Recreation, the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications, and the National Guard.

The TLC is appreciative of all Licensees who participated. Thank you for helping to save lives and fight the COVID-19 pandemic in New York City!
