The TLC has notified accessible drivers in May, June, and July about the Government Prepaid Debit Card ending and its transition to PayPal. To ensure that you do not lose any of the balance on your prepaid debit card, you must use the remaining balance or withdraw the balance from the prepaid debit card by December 1, 2023. After December 1, 2023, cards will begin to be decommissioned. For cards that have remaining funds, a check will be sent for the balance.
To continue receiving scheduled TIF/SHLIF payments on time, you must sign up for PayPal immediately with the instructions below. You can disregard these instructions if you have completed all three steps.
Ensure that your mailing and email address in TLC UP are up to date. If not, please visit LARS to make any changes.
Your email address on TLC UP must match the email address used to register for PayPal.
Once you have completed the sign up for PayPal, complete the TLC form to provide your hack or TLC license number and your consent for TIF driver payments to be disbursed through your PayPal account.
Want to make more money each shift? As a driver taking part in this program, you can earn an extra $1.00 per trip from the TLC for any trip you provide in a yellow or green wheelchair accessible taxicab. All the money you earn through the program will be deposited, at no cost to you, onto a TLC prepaid debit card by TLC staff.
The TLC’s Taxi and Improvement Fund (TIF)/Street Hail Livery Improvement Fund (SHLIF) program also offers yellow and green wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) drivers a one-time $100 signing bonus after completing their first 20 WAV trips.
