Community Engagement Assistance

multiple participants in a workshop

It is important for community-based organizations (CBOs) to regularly engage with local businesses, residents and other stakeholders to identify neighborhood priorities and forge constructive relationships. Successful community engagement can greatly strengthen and sustain the work of CBOs to revitalize NYC neighborhoods. In partnership with Public Agenda, we provide group training and one-on-one assistance to CBOs to tackle engagement challenges and strengthen community relationships.

Organizations receiving one-on-one assistance through this program will identify a key engagement challenge and work with Public Agenda to improve their engagement efforts by applying new strategies and techniques. Guidance will be offered in areas such as:

  • Issue framing
  • Face-to-face and online meetings and discussions
  • Working with elected officials and other stakeholders
  • Designing engagement opportunities
  • Recruitment beyond the usual suspects
  • Managing engagement needs
