EquityNYC reports the status of racial and social equity in New York City and the City's work to address disparities. It visualizes and contextualizes over 80 measures of well-being (traditionally known as "Social Indicators") across eight policy area as well as five Citywide Equity Metrics that track and report who the City serves, where services are located, who the City employs, who receives City contracts, and how the City promotes equity internally.
EquityNYC reflects the City's commitment to transparency and accountability. Reporting on this data is Charter-mandated and further described in Executive Order 45. The data presented on the site are also available via NYC Open Data.
Over 60 City agencies, offices, and partners contribute data and other content to EquityNYC.
EquityNYC was developed in partnership with many City stakeholders. Our partners at Blenderbox and HD Made provided user experience, design, and development services.
EquityNYC is developed on Django, a python-based open source platform, with a frontend supported by the React JavaScript library. The application is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The data visualizations are supported by Highcharts and Carto. All of the data on the site are available on NYC Open Data.
