Identification

Each body received by OCME must be formally identified. Most identifications are performed visually by a family member or close acquaintance. Identifications may be performed at the scene, or by looking at a photograph at one of our Family Services Centers in the five boroughs. Identifications may also be made using fingerprints, dental and/or medical x-rays, or DNA.
