Children

All New York children under 19 can get affordable, quality health insurance called Child Health Plus. Your immigration status and your child's immigration status won't matter. Your child may also be able to get insurance through your job, through Medicaid, or through a private health insurance plan that you choose.

Health Insurance Options

  • Child Health Plus: All New York children can get Child Health Plus, regardless of immigration status or income.
  • Medicaid: Free or very low cost insurance for New Yorkers with low income. Infants and children can qualify at higher family income levels.

  • Private/Qualified Health Plans: Insurance plans on the NY State of Health Marketplace (financial help is available) and directly from insurance companies. Check to see if children's dental coverage is included in the health plan or if you will need to purchase it separately.
  • Employer-based Health Insurance: Ask your employer if they offer family health insurance plans.
