Not all subway stations are accessible for people with disabilities. Elevators for individuals with physical disabilities are available at select stations. Customer Service representatives are available 24 hours a day to help plan your trip.
For all request for copies of brochures, bus and subway schedules, the large print edition of the subway map, and braille line maps customer can reach out to MTA by calling 511 or submitting a request online https://new.mta.info/contact-us. Agents are available from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Customers who are deaf/hard of hearing can use their preferred relay or the free 711 relay service.
NYC Half Fare Reduced-Fare Metro Cards are available for seniors who are 65 and older, and people with a qualifying disability. People with disabilities who are approved for a Half Fare Reduced Metro Card pay half the base fare when traveling on the MTA bus or Subway. Half Fare Reduced-Fare Metro Cards can be used to pay fares on all MTA NYC Transit subways, all MTA NYC Transit local buses, 24 hours a day, and on express buses during non-rush hours.

Fair Fares NYC Metrocard
Fair Fares NYC is a City program created by Mayor Bill de Blasio, City Council Speaker Corey Johnson, and members of the City Council to help people who live in New York City with low incomes manage their transportation costs. With the cooperation of New York City Transit, DSS/HRA will be applying the Fair Fares transportation discount for use on Access A-Ride trips to eligible customers who are enrolled in Fair Fares starting in July.
New York City (NYC) residents may be eligible for Fair Fares NYC Metrocard if they:
Are between (and including) the ages of 18 and 64;
Are in a household that meets the income guidelines for the Fair Fares NYC program;
Are not currently participating or eligible to participate in any Metropolitan Transit
Authority (MTA) discount program; and,
Are not receiving full carfare from the Department of Social Services/Human Resources
Administration (DSS/HRA) or any other NYC agency.

Fair Fares Access-A-Ride Form

Access-A-Ride provides transportation for people with disabilities whose disability prevents their use of accessible mass transit, public bus, or subway service for some or all of their trips. Access-A-Ride is operated by private carriers under contract to the City.
AAR is the Para-Transit service for NYC and administered by the MTA NYC Transit(NYCT)/Paratransit Division. AAR is a shared ride, door-to-door, or feeder service which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week within the service area covered NYC Transit’s public bus and subway.

Process of Applying for Access-A-Ride
In order to apply for Access-A-Ride (AAR), you first need to call the Access-A-Ride office at 877-337-2017
First, press 1 for English, 2 for Spanish, 3 for alternative languages.
Second, press 1 for "Eligibility"
From there you will be connected with someone that will take your information and an Access-A-Ride Application will be sent to your home address as well as a time for your certification appointment. You must have the Access-A-Ride Application fully filled out when you go in for your appointment.
