The performer, who starred in all 5 seasons of NYC production The Marvelous Ms. Maisel will be honored during the New York Women in Film and Television Muse Awards on March 27.

NEW YORK - The Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) is proud to announce the selection of Alex Borstein as the next "Made in NY" Award recipient. The Emmy-award winning actress is best known for her work on the critically-acclaimed and NYC-filmed Amazon Prime Video series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel as well as the animated sitcom Family Guy. The award will be presented by MOME Commissioner Pat Swinney Kaufman on March 27 at the New York Women in Film & Television 44th Annual Muse Awards, an annual celebration that honors women of vision and achievement in the media and entertainment industry who have used their platform to break barriers, elevate others, and inspire the next generation of leaders.

“While I can’t say I was made in New York, New York most certainly made me. It made me fall in love with its energy. It made me work harder than I’ve ever worked in my life. It made me feel its unique rhythm and understand the pull it still has over the masses that will forever flock to it. In 1956, my mother, and what was left of her family, fled to New York to build a life and now, sixty-eight years later, I am beyond honored to receive this award from the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment,” said Alex Borstein.

“I am thrilled to present our 'Made in NY' Award to Alex Borstein, a performer who has graced both the TV sound stages and Broadway stages of NYC, and helped bring the streets of this city to life for viewers around the world through her Emmy-award winning work on The Marvelous Ms. Maisel,” said Commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, Pat Swinney Kaufman. "Alex’s selection as a 'Made in NY' Award recipient celebrates her tireless efforts to support women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and mental health awareness, and provides this office an opportunity to shine a light on the importance of representation on screens through the strong, dynamic characters Alex has portrayed throughout her career.”

Established in 2006, the "Made in NY" Award recognizes the achievements of people and organizations that have made significant contributions to New York City's entertainment and digital media industries over the course of their careers. Prior recipients of the "Made in NY" award include 2024 Academy Award nominees Noah Baumbach, Danielle Brooks, Sheila Nevins, Robert De Niro and Jeffrey Wright, and additional past recipients include Awkwafina, Tina Fey, Caroline Hirsch, Spike Lee, Audra McDonald, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Rosie Perez. More information about the “Made in NY” award is available on the MOME website here.

Borstein most recently completed the fifth and final season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel where she can be seen starring as ‘Susie Myerson’ for which she has won two Emmy Awards and was nominated again this year for ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress’. She also starred for 3 seasons in HBO’s American version of the British series Getting On. Borstein is well-known for her role as ‘Lois’ on Family Guy for which she won an Emmy Award and was previously nominated for her writing/producing work on the series.

Borstein previously collaborated with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel creator Amy Sherman-Palladino in her 2000s cult classic Gilmore Girls and with MacFarlane on numerous projects such as TED and A Million Ways to Die In The West. She can also be seen on the HBO critically acclaimed cable comedy Getting On and Showtime’s Shameless, on which she also served as a consulting producer and writer. She starred opposite George Clooney in Good Night, and Good Luck, and has lent her talents to other films such as ParaNorman, The Lookout, Kicking & Screaming, and The Lizzie McGuire Movie. Her comedy special Corsets & Clown Suits premiered on Amazon Prime in 2023.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with MOME again to present the Made in New York Award at the 2024 Muse Awards. Alex Borstein is a quintessential New Yorker – multitalented, hilarious, and a powerful force with creative flair! We look forward celebrating her along with our muses that inspire us and give us hope for the future,” said NYWIFT CEO Cynthia Lopez
