Cycle 2 graduates with Program Director, Ryan Penny

The "Made in NY" Post Production Training Program is a skills training and job placement assistance program for New Yorkers pursuing careers in the city's growing post production industry. We partner with the NYC Department of Small Business Services and Brooklyn Workforce Innovations (BWI) to deliver the program at no cost to participants. Strong computer skills and six months of experience in the production industry is preferred.

"Made in NY" Post Production Training Program

This free, five-week program trains participants to use industry-standard software, preparing them for work in New York's many post facilities. After graduation from the program, students will receive job placement assistance and two years of career guidance and support.

Participants learn the basics of the following programs:

• Avid Media Composer
• Adobe Premiere Pro 
• Adobe Photoshop
• Adobe After Effects 
• Nuke

"Made in NY" Post Production Program trainees are unemployed or underemployed New Yorkers who have faced significant barriers to launching their careers. Applicants are considered for a limited number of training slots each cycle, so please be sure to read the Apply page in detail to make sure you're a good fit before attending an Information Session.

Graduates of the program always show up on time, understand how post facilities work, have the core skills needed to launch a career in post production, and are hungry to learn.

Eligibility

The following are our core eligibility requirements:

• 21 or more years of age
• At least 6 months of NYC residency
• Qualify as low-income, under- or unemployed; receive public assistance 
• Eligible to work in the U.S. 
• Basic computer skills 
• 6 months of experience in the production industry as Office, Set or Post PA 
• Commitment to work for 2 years in the industry

Attend an information session to fill out an application and meet with program staff to learn more about the program. A limited number of training spots are available in each cycle of the program,. Applications are accepted year-round on a first-come, first-serve basis. Attend an information session to receive detailed information regarding training dates or visit BWI's website.
