Message from the Executive Director

The Mayor’s Advisory Committee on the Judiciary (MACJ) is committed to maintaining the highest ideals of the judiciary in service to all New Yorkers. Accordingly, MACJ recruits, selects, and recommends to Mayor Eric Adams the most highly qualified candidates for appointment to Criminal Court and Family Court, as well as to Civil Court on an Interim basis.

MACJ, in a merit-based process, seeks individuals who exemplify the best the New York Bar has to offer. MACJ continues to recruit candidates who reflect a diversity of ideas and experience, who embody unassailable integrity, intellectual curiosity, legal acumen, and the necessary temperament expected of a jurist.

MACJ is committed to a fair and open process and accepts applications on a rolling basis. Interested candidates are invited to explore our website, download an application, and review the “Frequently Asked Questions,” where all relevant information about MACJ and the application process is outlined in detail.

Respect,

Ayanna Sorett, Executive Director
