The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Our diversity and inclusion mission is to attract, retain, and engage a diverse workforce comprised of talented individuals who are committed to protecting and preserving the architecturally and historically significant buildings and sites that define New York City.
LPC employees can expect to work as part of a highly engaged, passionate and inclusive workforce where everyone’s contributions are valued, respected and make an impact on one of the best and most diverse cities in the world. To help build an inclusive workplace culture, LPC facilitates internal programs to foster pride in our work and staff.
Staff Enrichment Meetings
The Staff Enrichment Meeting series is for LPC staff members to gather, share their work, and discuss issues that are important to our work and workplace. Our goal is to create open lines of communication in the agency, across departments and between supervisors and staff, so that everyone can learn what others are doing and have an opportunity to share their work, and that we create a work environment where people feel supported, connected and comfortable discussing even difficult issues.
Employee Working Groups (EWG)
The EWGs are voluntary, employee-led groups to exchange ideas and make recommendations to agency leadership on different topics that affect preservation. We currently have EWGs for Increasing Diversity in Historic Preservation, Culturally Sensitive Language, and Regulatory Practices in Historically Under-Resourced Neighborhoods.
Employee Resource Groups (ERG)
The ERGs are voluntary, employee-led groups to raise awareness of issues affecting people of a particular demographic or a shared concern. We currently have ERGs for Employees of Color and New Parents.
The City of New York is an inclusive equal opportunity employer committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce and providing a work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment based upon any legally protected status or protected characteristic, including but not limited to an individual's sex, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation, veteran status, gender identity, or pregnancy.
