Mark Ginsberg

Mark Ginsberg, FAIA, LEEDAP is a Founding Partner of Curtis + Ginsberg Architects with over 40 years of professional experience. A native New Yorker, his national leadership in sustainable design, resiliency, and  housing is widely recognized. The focus of his work at C+GA is centered on community-based design, affordable housing, and sustainability. The firm has designed over 21,000 units of housing. Projects include several historic buildings, with the firm receiving awards for this work.  His leadership in sustainable design includes the completion of six large residential and mixed-use buildings meeting the high energy efficiency standards of Passive House, and the design of a number of all-electric buildings in New York City.

He serves as the President of the Citizen’s Housing and Planning Council, Vice Chair of the Catskill Center for Conservation and Development. and is a member of the New York State Association for Affordable Housing (NYSAFAH) Board of Trustees. He is a past President of the AIA New York Chapter, a former co-chair of the New York New Visions (NYNV) Executive Committee, was co-chair of the AIANY Post Sandy Housing Task Force, and served as a Senior Advisor for Ready to Respond: Strategies for Multifamily Building Resilience by Enterprise Community Partners and co-author of the ‘Envelope Conundrum,’ the basis for the Zoning for Quality and Affordability (ZQA). 

Commissioner Ginsberg has a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University in Theater Design and Government. He lives in a historic district in Lower Manhattan.
