Emergency Housing Services

The Emergency Housing Services (EHS) unit provides emergency relocation services and rehousing assistance to households who have been displaced from their homes as a result of fires or city-issued vacate orders. Displaced households are placed in family centers and single-room-occupancy hotels in Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens.

Owners may be responsible for HPD shelter expenses that result from residential displacement due to fires or city-issued vacate orders.
