National Preparedness Month

In the wake of the challenges we've weathered together, the theme for National Preparedness Month in 2023 is "Take Control in 1, 2, 3." This year, we're putting an added emphasis on a demographic that needs our collective attention—older adults, specifically those from communities that are disproportionately impacted by all-hazard events.

The risks for older adults in emergency situations can be magnified by a host of factors—living alone, financial constraints, disability, or residing in isolated areas. Recognizing these challenges, we're offering tailored strategies to empower our older citizens to take control of their preparedness journey.

Use our 2023 National Preparedness Month Messaging Toolkit to share information that can help the older adults in your life and all of your family and friends get prepared. This resource is filled with indispensable tips and actionable steps that you, your family, and your community can take to ensure we all emerge stronger, more resilient, and prepared for whatever lies ahead.
