Squad 5

Squad 5 investigates corruption involving City-elected officials and City-funded not-for-profit organizations entrusted with providing services to City residents. It also oversees City agencies involved in the City election process, such as the Campaign Finance Board and the Board of Elections. This Squad investigates the diversion of government funds at City-funded nonprofits, and public officials who misuse the power of their office violating the public's trust. Its investigations have led to the guilty verdict of a non-profit executive in a corruption scheme, a former Public Administrator employee's conviction and sentencing for stealing more than $78,000 from the estates of eight decedents, and a joint investigation into delays and political influence of the City Department of Education's inquiry of education standards at Hasidic Yeshivas. Squad 5 also oversees the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), the Department for the Aging (DFTA), the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DoITT), and the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH).
