Squad 8/H+H
Squad 8 is the Inspector General for New York City's Health + Hospitals, the City’s public healthcare system, which operates 11 hospitals, 5 long-term care/rehabilitation facilities, and multiple neighborhood health centers. Squad 8 conducts long-term investigations to prevent Health + Hospitals' employees and healthcare providers, who work with the system, and its subsidiaries, from defrauding Health + Hospitals and its wholly-owned subsidiary MetroPlus, which provides health insurance to City residents and employees. This Squad also works with DOI's law enforcement partners to expose the misuse of prescription medications and narcotics fraud.
