COVID-19 Guidance

For more guidance to help people protect their mental health and be mindful of alcohol and substance use during the COVID-19 public health emergency, see COVID-19: Mental Health and Substance Use.

Peers establish relationships with the people they serve, leading to increased feelings of support, safety, and well-being. Through a combination of lived experience and professional training, peers provide an array of services for people in addiction recovery or suffering from a mental health issue who need support and guidance, including:

  • Crisis support
  • Referrals to support service
  • Modeling coping skills

On the pages listed below, providers, peers and the communities they serve can learn more about NYC peers, the services they offer and how you can become a peer.
