The Health Department works to give New York City's clinicians the support they need to provide their patients with the best care possible. This support includes alerts about emerging issues and disease outbreaks, bulletins with practical guidance on current and important public health topics, technical support for the transition to using electronic health records, training and detailing opportunities, action kits, and a variety of other resources.
The inaugural Chief Medical Officer Strategic Plan (PDF) outlines the mission and integral role of the NYC Health Department's CMO in strengthening the agency's relationships with our health care delivery partners throughout NYC.
The plan describes three priority domains, including current and future Health Department initiatives:
The CMO strategic plan is intended for health sector leadership to better understand the equity and anti-racist goals of the NYC Health Department and identify areas for continued collaboration and coordination around citywide health equity efforts.
The CMO quarterly newsletter, "The Bridge," will help health care delivery partners stay connected to important updates from the Health Department. Each newsletter will provide updates on the CMO strategic plan, recent data findings and publications, and spotlights on Health Department programs and community work.
