The NYC Department of Correction operates the city’s jails and has no jurisdiction over state and federal correctional institutions. Please direct your inquiries to the appropriate parties:

• For information related to New York State prisons, please contact the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
• For information related to the Manhattan Correctional Center (MCC) and the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) please contact the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

The New York City Board of Correction (BOC) is a nine-person, non-judicial oversight board that regulates, monitors, and inspects the correctional facilities of the City.
