The Next Generation of
Great Architects, Engineers, and Builders

We know that the next generation of great architects, engineers, and builders is just a classroom away.

In 2014, we created the STEAM Initiatives program to establish a diverse and inclusive pipeline for New York City's youth to engage in architecture, construction, and engineering (ACE) industries. Our customized outreach programs enhance student awareness of these fields, from middle school through college. This further enriches the broader goals of STEAM: to bring awareness to the importance of science, technology, engineering, art/architecture and mathematics in our educational system.

We help students think critically about the built environment and the concepts of sustainability, equity, resiliency, and healthy living that are driving the next generation of public design. Along the way, we instill confidence in their ability to do advanced math and science. This program opens their eyes to new career opportunities and inspires students to become the urban planners and architects of tomorrow.

In partnership with the NYC Department of Education (DOE) and the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), we facilitate a series of after-school programs. In these programs students learn about things like what a green roof is and how to build one. Students do this through lessons and model making.  These programs give underrepresented youth the opportunity to get their foot in the door for STEAM professions, while engaging in teamwork and making friends.
