Local Law 86

Since 2005, Local Law 86 has required many of our projects to achieve a LEED rating of Certified or Silver and, in many cases, to use energy and water more efficiently than current codes require. The following resources have been developed to assist the agency and its consultants in complying with this law.

  • Local Law 86 Text and Rules
The Office of Environmental Coordination provides supporting documents for Local Law 86, including the final rules and the text of the law.
  • Timeline for Local Law 86 LEED Projects [PDF]
This project timeline includes the key activities required for Local Law 86 LEED projects managed by the DDC. It lists the activities of the DDC team, the Design Consultant, and the Commissioning Agent for each project phase.
  • Energy Rates for Local Law 86 Projects
Please refer to the Local Law 86 Energy Rates as determined by the Department of Citywide Administrative Services Division of Energy Management for verifying compliance with Local Law 86 energy cost reduction requirements.
