Long Island City, NY – The NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC) announced today that the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the East Side Coastal Resiliency (ESCR) project has been completed and is now publicly available on the City’s dedicated ESCR website. Print copies will also be available at Manhattan Community Boards 3 and 6.
The document examines the potential impacts of not building the project plus four construction alternatives, including the preferred alternative that would raise East River Park as part of a continuous flood protection system from Montgomery Street to East 25th Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
ESCR remains on track to provide comprehensive flood protection to the community in advance of the 2023 hurricane season.
