Office of the Chief Architect

The Office of the Chief Architect builds on our history of prioritizing quality and excellence in design in the public realm. Through Design and Construction Excellence 2.0, it supports the mayoral lenses of growth, equity, sustainability, resiliency and healthy living throughout DDC's projects. This office also coordinates with the Public Design Commission’s regulatory review and with the Percent for Art program.

Led by Margaret O’Donoghue Castillo, FAIA, LEED AP, the Office of the Chief Architect is also charged with enhancing and streamlining our Design and Construction Excellence review process, and fostering accessibility, sustainability, resiliency, diversity and inclusion in the City’s public buildings and spaces.
