NYC Health + Hospitals’ Public Artist in Residence Modesto Flako Jimenez Holds Culminating Showcase at Carnegie Hall
Modesto Flako Jimenez and his many collaborators presented works from a yearlong engagement with NYC Health + Hospitals gun violence prevention and interruption programs and those intimately affected by the trauma.

NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln Debuts New Mural Created with Input from Bronx Youth Affected by Gun Violence
The mural, developed by artist Fernando “Ski” Romero, is one of the projects planned with Modesto Flako Jimenez, the 2022-23 NYC Public Artist in Residence who has been embedded in the health system’s community and gun violence interruption programs over the past year.

NYC Public Artist in Residence Carlos Irijalba’s New Temporary Three-Part Installation Now Featured at East Side Coastal Resiliency in Manhattan
The NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC) and NYC Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) have announced an ambitious, three-part installation by Spanish-born, Brooklyn-based artist Carlos Irijalba titled Joined an Avalanche, Never to be Alone Again is on view through November 15, 2023.

Materials for the Arts Kicks Off Eighth Annual "Back to School Shopping Spree," Providing Free Supplies to NYC Public School Teachers 
Cultural Affairs' Materials for the Arts program is welcoming teachers to pick up an array of free supplies to start the school year. MFTA's back to school initiative also includes extended shopping hours, direct supply drop-offs for schools, and new professional development programming.

NYC Department of Cultural Affairs Announces $2 Million for The New York Botanical Garden’s State-of-the-Art, “Net-Positive Energy” Site Operations Center, and New Capital Support for Cultural Groups Across the Bronx  
With this allocation, the City has contributed over $15 million to the NYBG project to date. As part of an ongoing five borough tour, Commissioner Cumbo also highlighted critical capital investments for cultural groups across the Bronx.

NYC Department of Cultural Affairs Announces Selection of Artist Jennifer Wen Ma to Design Permanent Public Artwork for 70 Mulberry in Manhattan's Chinatown
The building – a community hub which was severely damaged by fire in January 2020 – is being restored by the City’s Department of Design and Construction and Department of Citywide Administrative Services.
