Harassment

There is no place for harassment in New York City. The Human Rights Law protects against discriminatory harassment for a wide range of protected groups, and the Commission works to educate New Yorkers about their rights and respond to local issues of harassment.

As part of our schools program, we train public school students to identify and prevent sexual harassment. The Commission offers a similar program for employers and businesses. As part of our partnership with the LGBT Center, we have a citywide initiative to build understanding and prevent harassment of the transgender community.

The Commission works with hundreds of community-based organizations, boards, and local leaders to identify issues as they occur, and proactively work with residents to address them. If you have experienced discrimination or harassment, please contact us
